Blank screen after suspend on 17.10 using NVIDIA

There seems to be an issue with nouveau driver. Edit the grub file by editing it with sudo access.

sudo vim /etc/default/grub

Add nouveau.modeset=0 to the line that says GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="" so that it finally looks like this GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="nouveau.modeset=0"

Then run

sudo update-grub

Reboot after successfully updating grub.

Instalacia JAVA pre eID OP

Použite Oracle Java 8, x64 pre linux (vo formáte tar.gz) , ktorú rozbaľte, napr. do /opt a zaregistrujte.

sudo tar -zxvf jrexxxxxx -C /opt

sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/javaws javaws /opt/jrexxxxxxx/bin/javaws 1

Resuming from Suspend causes computer to shutdown under Linux Mint

Open /etc/default/grub with your favorite editor.
change GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" to: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_sleep=nonvs"
sudo update-grub
reboot and changes should take effect.
